More about Tatamagouche and Area

The village of Tatamagouche itself is one of two communities in Nova Scotia in which the population is expanding.

It is also an increasingly popular tourist destination with its nearby warm-water beaches, near fogless climate, gorgeous scenery, marinas and golf courses . . .

A huge annual Oktoberfest in the fall attracts people from all over Canada

The Tatamagouche Road Train

A little road train toots its way around the village in the summer, passing various shops and businesses . . .

. . . a lovely yarn shop, an alcohol distillery, restaurants, and beautiful homes.

At certain times it goes along the shoreline to the local Nelson's Park and back to the village.

For sportspeople there is a Ice Rink / Recreation Centre nearby for figure-skating, ice-hockey and curling.

A bowling alley is here as well.

The Wentworth Alpine Ski are is only 20 minutes away.

Patterson's Wharf, a Museum and Market just a 5 minute Drive

The  Patterson Wharf Park, a place to launch a canoe or kayak, barbecue on the outdoor fireplace, or just sit and soak up the stunning views over the Waughs River estuary.

From the wharf you can access the Butter Trail which is part of the Trans-Canada Trail system - ideal for walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or horseback riding.           

Community life is vibrant, as is the cultural scene: there is an Arts Council, and well-known authors live here as do artists with international reputations who show their work locally and around the world.

Professionals from many walks of life give lectures on all kinds of subjects from the science of fungi and the art of photography to Old English poetry.

The City of Halifax  with its International Airport is only a two-hour drive away.
