Haven Inn and Balfron Hillside Chalets News Spring 2006 April 9 2006 Winter is now a distant memory, we probably only had too snowblow and clear snow 4 or 5 times, a rather mild winter for us here in Balfron. The south edges of some fields and further into the hills of the Cobequid Mountains still show some evidence of snow. There is already significant greening evident in the field and the greens on the golf course are all green. We're busy working on three bridges to cross the creek here on our property, should make it a little easier to get to holes 3 and 5 up by the Chalets. Runway for RC Model Aircraft is all set to go, has been rolled and is getting better each year. We have a new sign this year, we made it in the shape of an oval, used the colors, blue red and yellow for the background, and white for the letters. Hopefully this will make it a little easier to find us! New sign located on our property out at the road. Fiddleheads should be ready to pick in about a week. Spring seems to be a little early this year, had quite a problem with our road to the chalets. Muddy and rutted, frost did not want to come out of the ground, top 4 to 6 inches was continuously holding water. Happy to report that this problem is over and road is smooth again.. We're looking forward to a busy spring and summer, we are going into our 10th year of operation, and hope to see a lot of visitors this summer who were here in the past.
