Skiing, sliding....While the winter months in Nova Scotia's main cities can be foggy, cold, and rainy, the Cobequid Mountains and the Northumberland area often boast the idyllic snow covered image often seen on many postcards. While winter pursuits in Nova Scotia are not limited to skiing and snowboarding, these activities are certainly an important and popular part of the season.
Not just skiing....
For those who are not tempted by the idea of sliding around on the ice or snow there are plenty of alternatives. If you don't trust your own sporting abilities, you have the option of riding or being pulled by a team of horses. There are a number of destinations which offer sleigh rides. Spend an evening enjoying a romantic sleigh ride under the twinkle of the north star.

travel on # 4 North past Ski Hill towards New Brunswick to # 246 app 3 km (2 Miles)
turn right onto # 246 --- Direction Tatamagouche
travel on # 246 to # 256 17 km (11 Miles)
turn right onto # 256
travel on # 256 12 km (7 Miles)
turn left onto Hwy 311 North
Forest Haven Inn and Balfron Hillside Chalets can be found on left app. 2 km (1.2 Miles)
Alternate ... You can also continue on #246 straight into Tatamagouche and then proceed south through Tatamagouche onto HWY 311.. We are app. 5 km south of Tatamagouche on the right..
